Who We Are:

Founded in 1907, the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) serves as the national forum for attorneys general and their staff to collaboratively address issues important to their work and provides resources to support the work of the offices of attorneys general in protecting the Rule of Law and the United States Constitution. NAAG’s Communications Office coordinates media-related and public information activities for the Association, oversees publication of all NAAG materials, and has oversight for NAAG’s website and social media content. Serving the members’ public information officers, the Communications Office coordinates the Public Information Officer (PIO) Seminar, assists in materials production for national distribution, coordinates national press outreach, and provides communications consultation to AG offices and NAAG staff.


We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Manager to join our team.


The Job Brief:

The Communications and Marketing Manager (CMM) supports the work of the NAAG Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and the NAAG Communications Office. She/he will manage dissemination of NAAG messaging to a variety of audiences, including the members, the public, and policy makers, via email marketing, social media, and through the organization website. The CMM supports the CCO and other executive staff as needed.

 

The Communications and Marketing Manager reports to the Chief Communications Officer.

 

A Typical Day May Look Like This:

Communications & Email Marketing

  • Coordinate, design, and disseminate all email marketing for program and training announcements, and newsletters, using NAAG’s email marketing platform (Act-On);
  • Manage email marketing data and integrations with NAAG’s AMS, including subscriber lists and monitor the email calendar;
  • Analyze and report to CCO on email marketing performance;
  • Write, edit and review newsletter content, announcements and press releases;
  • Develop and produce videos, podcasts and other multimedia channels as needed;
  • Serve as a liaison with the CCO to Public Information Officer (PIO)/Communications Directors in state and territory attorney general offices, including maintaining PIO contacts; and
  • Assist the CCO, and Director, Design, Production and New Media in writing, designing, copying, and distributing NAAG marketing and other materials (meeting agendas, Association publications, directories, etc.), and updating content for NAAG website.

Website Content Management

  • Manage and update content on the NAAG website, following best practices for SEO;
  • Serve as a liaison to other NAAG staff on website requests; and
  • Manage the editorial calendar for the AG Journal publication.

Media Relations and Social Media

  • Manage social media presence for the organization, utilizing platforms like Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn;
  • Monitor social media and news sources for news and topics relevant to NAAG’s work and disseminate to appropriate NAAG staff and AG offices;
  • Develop social media graphics, animations, and video for NAAG campaigns, and templates to share with Public Information Officers (PIOs)/Communications Directors in state and territory AG offices; and
  • Serve as onsite media contact for NAAG meetings, create and update media lists.
  • General administrative support duties, including responding to requests, database management, and word processing, and other tasks as assigned, based on the needs of the Association.

Is This You?

  • Undergraduate degree in, communications, public relations, telecommunications, journalism, media studies or related area of study.
  • Familiarity with social media best practices and platforms.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, such as Act-On.
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and basic web), administrative and writing skills are necessary.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, composure, and discretion are essential.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Must use courtesy and tact in performing duties that may be sensitive in nature.
  • Comfortable working in a fluid environment of elected officials
  • Able to rely on personal experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
  • Good judgment, strong interpersonal communications, innovative problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Monitor results and develop contingency plans.

Terrific Total Compensation Package:

  • Salary range starts at $65,000-$70,000 and is commensurate with experience and budget availability.
  • NAAG offers a generous benefits package which includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, life/disability, long-term care, and 401k retirement plan.
