The Job Brief:

We are looking for a Legal Administrator to join our NAAG Tobacco Center team.  We are seeking a dedicated legal administrator who is looking to professionally grow with a focus on tobacco policy at the Attorney General level.  The Legal Administrator supports the work of the Tobacco Center, which is comprised of 4 attorneys, a Center Manager, and a Senior Legal Administrator.  The Legal Administrator for the Tobacco Center must possess strong organizational skills, be technically adept, be able to multi-task, work under deadline pressure, be detail-oriented and professional, and adapt quickly to changing work priorities.  Are you savvy with technology?  Do you possess strong communication skills and know how to maintain strict confidentiality?  Do you enjoy using Excel to organize large volumes of data?  If so, we invite you to keep reading about this exciting opportunity and apply today!

 

A Typical Day May Look Like This: 

  • Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets dealing with 1998 Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) payments and cigarette sales volumes
  • Respond to information requests and calls for assistance from the state offices of Attorneys General
  • Maintain electronic schedule for conference calls, meetings, and other deadlines
  • Assist in maintaining the organization of the Tobacco Center’s technology systems for information sharing and communication with the states
  • Coordinate with NAAG CLE Administrator to secure CLE credits for Tobacco Center trainings and seminars
  • Maintain understanding of major Tobacco Center issues and design logical and efficient network file structure
  • Assist in meeting coordination and support for in person/online conferences, including presentation support for Tobacco Center counsel
  • Prepare Excel spreadsheets and power point presentations to support attorneys
  • Download, file and maintain Notices from the “Extranet” maintained by PwC, the Independent Auditor to the MSA
  • Provide litigation and arbitration support services as needed, including conducting research using LexisNexis®, Pacer, and other legal databases
  • Collect and summarize applicable state laws and legislative initiatives related to the MSA and/or of importance to the Tobacco Center
  • Assemble, organize, and track states’ legal memoranda
  • Maintain litigation calendar and tracking system

Is This You?

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required
  • 1-2 years experience as a legal assistant, program coordinator, or related position
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Experience using LexisNexis, Pacer, and other legal databases

Location:

The Legal Administrator position is eligible for remote work. This position requires some travel (domestic and international). NAAG is headquartered in Washington, D.C. 

Terrific Total Compensation Package:

  • Salary range starts at $42,500 and is commensurate with experience.
